MAY 8th -Tools and Resources for End of Life

Kelly Roberts (He/Him), Founder of SendOff

Kelly was born and raised in Forest Lake, MN, where he and his family still live, work, and play. As co-owner of Roberts Family Funeral Home, Kelly has nearly 25 years of experience supporting individuals and their families in planning end-of-life arrangements. Over the years, Kelly’s inspiration to overhaul the dusty rituals of the funeral industry grew, and in 2022, deciding it was time for disruption, he launched SendOff – Funerals Reimagined, a licensed funeral provider serving the Twin Cities area and beyond. SendOff curates more authentic, highly personalized memorial events that bring an elevated level of peace and healing to family and friends. Kelly is passionate about influencing the funeral industry and giving families new, unique, and uplifting ways to say farewell to a loved one.

Megan Povlitzki (She/Her), Director of Operations at SendOff

Megan is the Director of Operations at SendOff – Funerals Reimagined. She is a certified death doula and is currently pursuing a degree in mortuary science to become a licensed funeral director. After experiencing significant loss in her younger years, she saw a need to change the way society embraces and responds to death. She is passionate about enhancing and expanding end-of-life options and is an advocate for the legalization of Natural Organic Reduction and Medical Aid in Dying in Minnesota. She is determined to provide more inclusive, comprehensive, and holistic care to those she serves.

Sam Madison, Co-Founder and COO of Thanacare

Sam Madison is a co-founder and COO of Thanacare where he is dedicated to supporting end-of-life professionals with technology to enable modern Goals of Care planning and continued professionalization. When he was 6, Sam lost his mother Carrie to breast cancer. She was only 36 and the experience of her death and the disorganization it wrought fuels his passion for creating solutions to improve how we die in America.

Thanacare is a customizable, HIPAA-compliant Goals of Care platform for planning, accessing, and reporting on healthcare choices. The clinician-led, patient-centric digital tool bolsters EOL work by streamlining document and client management, portability, and alignment of healthcare providers and loved ones. Thanacare is used by death doulas, celebrants, chaplains, funeral directors, and other end-of-life professionals. Sam will share his thoughts about how Thanacare can help care teams improve management, communication, and the ACP experience for clients, and invites us to use this platform if you offer ACP services.
